CALLED BY DEATH
Aged Resident of Pine Bluff
Expires Suddenly Last Evening
Mrs. Nannie B. Clegg, for twenty-five years a resident of Pine Bluff, died quite suddenly at 6:30 o’clock last evening, at the family home, 1502 South Main Street.
Mrs. Clegg has been in declining health for several months past, but for some days has appeared to be improving. Her death yesterday, following the improvement, came as a shock to the members and friends of the family.
A native of this state, Mrs. Clegg moved to Pine Bluff with her husband, B. F. Clegg, a quarter of a century ago. She had become widely known and greatly beloved during her residence here, and the news of her death caused much sorrow last night. She was 78 years of age, and in June last she and Mr. Clegg celebrated the fifty-third anniversary of their marriage. Mrs. Clegg was a life-long member of the Methodist Church, and at the time of her death was a member of the congregation of the Lakeside Church.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Clegg is survived by four daughters, one son and nine grandchildren. The son is Claude Clegg of this city, the daughters are Mrs. V. S. McClellan, Mrs. M. J. Mead and Mrs. S. C. Farrar of this city and Mrs. J. L. Harrell of Little Rock. The grandchildren are Virgil and James McClellan, Curtis and James Mead, Ione and Nannie Farrar and Elizabeth, Frank and Claude Clegg.
The funeral will be held Thursday forenoon at 10 o’clock from the home, with services by Rev. Marion Nelson Waldrip, pastor of Lakeside Methodist Church, assisted by Rev. J. A. Sage, presiding elder for this district, and Rev. W. C. Watson, commissioner for Galloway College. The following will serve as pallbearers:
W. H. Lawhon, Cliff Reeves, D. B. Niven, Dr. W. T. Lowe, J. H. Hudson, C. C. Hanley, J. H. Watkins and W. L. Carr.
