Sally Yates Akins of Ringgold, passed away peacefully with her son and daughter-in-law surrounding her. She was preceded in death by her husband: Edward Eugene "Gene" Akins; her parents: Joseph and Myrtle Yates; and her siblings: Gertrude Orr, Gordon Yates, Lloyd Yates, Jo Garlapo, Mary Colburn, Harold Yates, Julia Carlock, and Allen Yates.
Burning Bush Baptist Church has held Sally's membership and attendance for a very longtime. She especially enjoyed and loved her Sunday School Classmates very much.
A hard work ethic served Sally well; she possessed a career that spanned several decades as a local office manager for Liberty National Insurance.
Those left to cherish Sally's memories are her son: Tommy (Nadene) Akins; siblings: Bob Yates; the mother of her grandchildren: Renee Ringer; three grandchildren: Celestia Breanne (Matthew) Turnage, Katia Destiny Akins, and Thomas Christian Cole Akins; three great-grandchildren: Zaiden William Turnage, Link Tiberius Turnage, and Jordan Kevin Turnage; as well as many family members and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held 3:30 PM Saturday at Burning Bush Baptist Church with Rev. Dennis McNulty and Ron Ingram officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 12-3:30 PM. The family will receive friends 4-8 PM Friday at Heritage Funeral Home and Crematory, Battlefield Parkway.
