Wife Of Former President Of Westminster College To Be Buried In Mexico:***
Mrs. Margaret Buckner Marquess, wife of the late Dr. W.H. Marquess, a former president of Westminster College and pastor of the Fulton Presbyterian Church, died Tuesday morning in New York City at the home of her daughter, Miss Eliza Marquess, with whom she lived according to the word recieved here Wednesday.***The body is to be taken to Mexico, Mrs. Marquess's former home, for burial. *** Funeral arrangements were not definitely known there Wednesday, but the funeral party expected to leave New York City Thursday and services will be held at Mexico.***
Mrs. Marquess was a daughter of Judge and Mrs. A.H. Buckner of Mexico.***She was married to Dr. Marquess who served as president of Westminster College and pastor of the Fulton Presbyterian Church from about 1878 to 1900. They went from here to Louisville, Kentucky and then to New York City where Dr. Marquess died in 1932,*** Two children survive, William H. Marquess Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia and Miss Eliza Marquess of New York. Two brothers also are living, C.A. Buckner of Mexico and Tony Buckner of Quincy, Illinois. Mrs. Marquess was a sister-in-law of the late Dr. E.H. Marquess of Fulton.
