Bernice Shewbart Weatherford, 85, Vina, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, at ECM Hospital after an extended illness. She was a native of Franklin County, a homemaker and a member of the Halltown Methodist Church for 40 years.
Funeral services were Saturday, Dec. 13, with Brother Rex Manasco officiating. Burial followed the service at the Halltown Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Ala., was in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by a son, Johnnie Weatherford and wife, Rebecca, Red Bay, Ala.; a daughter, Judy Austin and husband, Steve, Florence, Ala.; one grandson, John Weatherford, Starkville, Miss.; grandaughters-in-law, Britney Weatherford and Misty Weatherford; great-grandsons, Haze Landon Weatherford and Joshua Lee Weatherford, Red Bay, Ala.; three nieces, Marjorie Morris, Betty Moore and Joyce Henson; two nephews, James McKinney and Charles Hardin; and a special cousin, Jane Williams.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, John Raymond Weatherford; her parents, Roscoe and Mackie Mitchell Shewbart; a brother, Elton Shewbart; her sisters, with whom she shared a very special bond, Florence McKinney, Nettie Weatherbee and Oneice Hardin; a granddaughter, Jennifer; and a grandson, Joshua Weatherford.
Pallbearers will be Charles Hardin, James McKinney, James Neil Thompson, Charles Berry, Bobby Nelson and Billy Joe Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Haze Landon Weatherford and Joshua Lee Weatherford.
Visitation was Friday, Dec. 12, at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Ala., and until service time Saturday.
Memorials may be made to Halltown Methodist Church.
