Cearley,Grandpa-(from Maysville) Grandpa Cearley died at the home of his son, Tom Cearley, west of town Sunday, Jan. 29 and was laid to rest in the Ward cemetery Monday. The community joins in sympathy for the bereaved. (Gravette News-Herald 2/3/22)
Son of George & Mary (Loudermilk) Cearley, and Husband of Charlotte "Lottie" Morris, married 5 Apr 1866 in Union County, GA.
Father of seven children including son Thomas F. Cearley of Jay Oklahoma.
Elbert (Delbert) was a "circuit minister" and "doctor" in what then was called "the old Indian nation" which included all of the current state of Oklahoma. Stella Mae Alberts recalled traveling with them into Indian Territory when Elbert was on an extended evangelical mission that lasted more than a year.
