Sallie Brown was the first wife of Hector McNeill of Moore County. They were married circa 1843 but were separated by 1859-1860. Hector and Sallie were the parents of six children born between 1844 and 1859.

Sallie and the children are found in 1860 living next door to Hector's parents, Sophiah and Neill McNeill. Hector was living with his 1st cousin, Ann Eliza McNeill, in a nearby town. By 1861, Sallie had moved with the children into adjacent Richmond County. She is not found in the 1870 or subsequent census records.

The children of Hector and Sallie are:
John A. McNeill (1844-1865 )
Neal Archie McNeill (1846-1919)
William J. McNeill (1848-1897)
Lonnie Waddell "Dock" McNeill (1852-1922)
Lewis Brewer McNeill (1856-1924)
Martha Ann McNeill Kelly (1859- abt 1912)

Most likely, Sallie is buried in a now unmarked grave at Bear Branch Cemetery in Richmond County, as that is the final resting site of her sons Neal Archie, Lonnie Waddell and Lewis Brewer McNeill and many of their extended family.
