Gertrude M. Bishop, age 81, formerly of Menchalville, and a resident of North Ridge Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc, died Tuesday morning, October 28, 1997, at North Ridge. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 1, 1997, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Kellnersville. Burial with entombment to follow at Knollwood Mausoleum.
The former Gertrude Schmitz was born April 19, 1916, in Dickey, North Dakota, daughter of the late Michael and Margaret Wieler Schmitz. She attended schools in Dickey.
On April 27, 1933, she married Ronald E. Bishop there. After their marriage the couple farmed at Seymour, Wisconsin, for 18 years moving to Menchalville in 1950.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Kellnersville, St. Joseph's Rosary Society, the Menchalville Sewing Club, and was a former 4-H leader.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Jerome "Romy" and Elaine Bishop, Menchalville; three daughters and sons-in-law, Marilee and Raymond Brockmann, Eagle River, Lois and Joseph Fleck, Sheboygan, Kate and Joe Langdon, Oneida; 24 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; three brothers; one sister; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald on October 30, 1986; seven brothers; and one sister.
Relatives and friends may call at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, Kellnersville, on Friday from 4-7 p.m. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. led by Father Colombo. Relatives and friends may also call on Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials would be appreciated for St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Kellnersville. A special thank you to the North Ridge Staff for their care and concern in Gertrude's behalf.
