A son of Mr.& Mrs. James T. Morehead. Married Mary Christian Jones. Had a son, James T. Morehead Jr. Mr. Morehead was a veteran of the Civil War. The family lived on S. Eugene St. at the time of his death.

His obituary as seen in the Mebane Leader of Mebane, NC on January 5, 1911 was seen as follows:

"Maj. Morehead Dead---Major Motley Morehead of Greensboro died at 4 o'clock Sunday morning last. Major Morehead was president of the Guilford Battleground association, where he labored entirely for the preservation of a spot which he believed of great historic value and which the people of his state and also of the nation have come to so regard thru his zeal."

Note: Death certificate states: He was a son of James Turner and Mary T. Lindsay Morehead. He was President of Guilford Battleground, and had purchased that land in 1871. It states that he lived at 215 S. Eugene St. He was married, but wife wasn't named. He died of a liver ailment.

(Note: More information from a family member----MARY CATHERINE JONES(daughter of NANCY KEEN and DECATUR JONES), b. 1854 was the wife of JOSEPH MOTLEY MOREHEAD.
