Alvin J. Enz, age 95, of 1235 S. 24th St., Manitowoc, died Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc. A Masonic memorial service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2005 at Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum, Manitowoc. Entombment will follow at the Knollwood Mausoleum.
Alvin was born June 11, 1909 in Denmark, son of the George and Annie Schultz Enz. He attended schools in Denmark and graduated with the class of 1927 from Denmark High School.
On Nov. 24, 1932, Alvin married the former Hazel Jorgensen at Denmark. She preceded him in death on May 6, 1995.
Alvin was a cheese distributor for many years in Denmark. In later years, he worked as an accountant for the Kahlenberg Bros. Co. Marine Equipment. He was a member of First Reformed United Church of Christ, Manitowoc, the DesPeres Masonic Lodge #85, the Tripoli Temple of Milwaukee, and the Scottish Rite of Milwaukee.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law: Lee A. and Marilyn E. Enz, Lake Forest Ill.; two granddaughters: Lauren (Sterling) Wilson, Austin, Texas; Carolyn (Edward) Kyritz, Darien, Conn.; five great-grandchildren: Grant and Trent Wilson, Austin, Texas; Kendall, Courtney and Tommy Kyritz, Darien, Conn.; two sisters: Lucille Laverenz, Manitowoc; and Myra DiDio, Milwaukee.
Besides his parents and wife, Hazel, Alvin was preceded in death by one brother: Mark Enz; and one sister: Nora Bishop.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Reformed United Church of Christ, Manitowoc. The Jens Family Funeral Home & Crematory, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
