Gerald Laster of St. James, Mo was born January 25, 1936 in Ste. Genevieve, Mo, a son of William James and Flossie Jane (Howard) Laster, and departed this life Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, Mo. Gerald attained the age of 82 years old.

Gerald was united into marriage on (date unknown) to Mabel Manzanares in Los Angeles, CA and unto the union four children were born, Yvonne Hardesty, St. James, Mo; Terry Laster, St. James, Mo; Kimberly Jennings, Fulton, Mo and Gerald Laster Jr, St. James, Mo . Mabel preceded her husband in death on April 5, 1977. Gerald was later united into marriage on November 19, 1977 to Carole Waters-Kirchhofer in Boulder, Co and gained three step-children, Rory Kirchhofer, Cape Girardeau, MO; Debbie Hardin, Meqsuite, Tx and Wesley Kirchhofer, Chester, Il in this union.

Gerald has many accomplishments in life, with his best highlight was being a United States Army Veteran who served in the Korean War from 1950-1953, then he was honorably discharged. He was very proud to be a US Veteran and loved his country to the fullest. Gerald was a strong Republican and wasn't afraid to show his love for his country or tell you how he felt. He stood true for his 2nd Amendment rights. Gerald worked for the Missouri Veterans Home in St. James, Mo for many years until retirement, along with Carole. He later than got back into employment and worked in custodial services for the University of Missouri in Rolla, Mo the for the St. James School District in St. James, Mo. Gerald was very involved with being a volunteer within the St. James School District while 3 of his grandchildren was still in attendance. He loved being able to tell stories to the children and help the teachers with whatever they needed. Gerald loved to collect American bald eagle figurines, tinker in his garden, loved walking his farm with Carole while looking at thier beautiful flowers. He had a love for pets he had threw out the years, but his last animal which made him happy the most at end was Curley. Gerald absolutely loved St. James, Mo, he knew many people. He was also part of the St. James Masonic Lodge for many years.

In addition to his wife, Mabel, Gerald is preceded in death, by his parents, William Laster on July 22, 1982 and Flossie Laster-Hager on July 11, 2009; Infant Sister, Lule Lee on August 17, 1930; Brothers William "Bill" Laster on December 14, 2020; Melvin Laster on October 26, 1976 and Paul Laster on November 14, 1987.

Those left to mourn Geralds passing included his wife, Carole of the home in St. James; children, stepchildren with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Gerald was cremated and will later be buried with Carole when she passes.
