Phyllis Doane McKenna, the beautiful wife of John McKenna, went home to the Lord on March 6, 2013. She was born in Quincy, MA on July 14,1928 to Edgar and Rae Doane. She lived in Weymouth and graduated from Weymouth High School. Phyllis attended and graduated from Boston University School of Practical Arts and Letters. She worked for a short time at Quincy Oil Co. She was the loving and devoted mother of Richard of Oceanside, CA, Edward and wife Liisie of Eastham, MA, Gerald and wife Debbie of Sandwich, MA, Marilynn Ellison of Sardis, GA and Robert and wife Susan of Tuftenboro, NH. She was the deeply loved grandmother of James, Tom, Edward, Daniel, David, Jamie, William, Melissa, John, Alex, Eileen, Elizabeth, Laura and the late Amy Ellison and 4 great-grandchildren, T.J., Rachel, Natalee and Katlynn and 13 nieces and nephews. Phyllis is also survived by three wonderful ex-daughters-in-law, Jone McKenna Kirkland of Hanson, MA, Ann McKenna of Kaneoli, HI and Rose McKenna of Amesbury whom have been an important part of her life. She also leaves a sister, Louise Petrasko of Cheshire, CT and a sister-in-law, Ann McKenna Trudeau of Weymouth and FL. Phyllis very much enjoyed visiting her family and friends, reading, homemaking, gardening, traveling and playing the organ. She was a fantastic cook. Phyllis was a very active member of the Union Congregational Church of Braintree for over 60 years, and also a member of Progress Circle. In 1991 she retired, with her husband Jack, to Chatham where she had spent her childhood summers with her grandparents and had vacationed with her husband and family. There will be no services held at this time, however there will be a graveside memorial service held at Seaside Cemetery in Chatham at a date to be announced later. Donations in her memory may be made to Hospice of the South Shore, 30 Reservoir Park Drive, Rockland, MA 02370. Arrangements by the Quealy & Son Funeral Home, Abington.
