Irene Louise Kyar was born in Sanborn, MN; the daughter of, John and Ellen (Mason) Kyar. She was united in marriage to Oscar Kuelbs on April 20, 1934 in New Ulm. After marriage Oscar and Irene farmed in rural Sleepy Eye. Retiring from farming in 1976 and moved to Sleepy Eye. After moving to Sleepy Eye, Irene was employed at the Sleepy Eye Public School working in the cafeteria. Irene was active in church and volunteered many hours with various organizations in Sleepy Eye.

Irene L. Kuelbs, died Sunday, March 18, 2012 at the Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye at the age of 96.

Funeral services were, in Sleepy Eye, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Friday, March 23, 2012, with Pastor Keith Ainsley officiating. Burial followed in the Home Cemetery in Sleepy Eye.

Irene is survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Oscar on March 3, 1988; sisters Vernie Miller, Mable Miller, Bertha Stimpert, Alyce Kuelbs, and by her brothers, Arthur, Raymond, Albert, Herbert, Clifford, and Earl Kyar.
