HOULKA - Silvia Davidson Alexander, 91, died Monday, June 30, 2008, at Trace Regional Hospital. She was born on April 23, 1917 to Albert Neal Davidson and Alma Young Davidson. She was a native of Calhoun County. She was retired from Houlka Attendance Center, where she was employed as a cafeteria worker. She was a faithful, active member of Schooner Valley Baptist Church in Houlka, serving as long as health allowed.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Southern Funeral Chapel in Houston with Bro. Robert Earl Alexander officiating. Burial will be at Poplar Springs Cemetery in Calhoun County.

Survivors include two sons, David D. "Ben" Alexander (Peggy) and William P. Alexander (Mary), both of Houlka; two daughters, Ruth Hall (David) of Pontotoc and Darthie Galloway (Harlan) of Houlka; one brother, David Davidson of Memphis, Tenn.; two sisters, Sue King of Oxford and Earnestine Clark of Houlka; one sister-in-law, LaDelle Alexander of Vardaman; eight grandchildren, Kim Gann, Keith Alexander, Kristin Alexander, Karen Alexander, Cynthia Moss, Grant Galloway, Blake Galloway and Mark Hall; three step-grandchildren, Lamar Bigham, Nicholas Bigham and Erica Krogmann; 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Mark Alexander; her parents; three sisters and two brothers.

Pallbearers will be Bryan Clark, Trent Clark, John Davidson, Sterlin Murphree, Steve King and Robert E. Brasher.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
