Fain and his son drowned after they were pitched from a homemade boat that capsized on Sunday.

Hi 11-year-old daughter, Carol, was rescued by a nurse who jumped into the rapid tides from a passing cabin cruiser. Fain's brother-in-law, Neil Bry, 22, of Oceanport, New Jersey, who owned the ill-fated boat, managed to cling tot he overturned vessel.

Alan's body was recovered by Rube White of Rumson, in seven feet of water about 150 feet from the scene of the capsizing. White brough up the elder Fain's body later.

The fain home is at 1306 Virginia Avenue, Norfolk, Virginia. Fain's wife, Alice Fain, remained with her sister, Mrs. Irene Bry, at the latter's home while the other went out in the boat on Sunday.
