Jacob J. (Jake) Vogel, 81, of Whitelaw, died Monday morning at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Saur Funeral Home, Kellnersville and at 11 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church, Whitelaw. The Rev. Richard Heymen will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Vogel was born December 10, 1892, in the Town of Cato, son of the late Anton and Anna Grall Vogel. He married Cecelia Kohlbeck September 28, 1920, at St. Mary Catholic church, Clarks Mills. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1970. Mr. Vogel was a cheesemaker in the Whitelaw area for 20 years and was employed at Manitowoc Shipbuilding, Inc. from 1942 until his retirement in 1958. He was a member of the International Assoc. of Machinists Union Local No. 516.
Survivors include his wife, two sons, Norbert J. and Arthur F., of Manitowoc; four daughters, Mrs. Paul (Marjorie) Vollendorf of Manitowoc and Mrs. Howard (Kathleen) Brunner, Mrs. Raymond (Delores) Reimer and Mrs. Robert (Elaine) Wallander of Whitelaw; a sister, Mrs. Anna Noe of Milwaukee; 16 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Four brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
Friends may call at Saur Funeral Home after 4 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday until the time of service. The rosary will be recited at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday.
