Elaine E. Wallander, age 76, of 205 Elm Street, Whitelaw, died peacefully Sunday evening, November 6, 2011, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her parents: Jacob (Cecelia) Vogel; mother-in-law and father-in-law: Ed (Theresa) Wallander; brothers and sisters-in-law, sisters and brothers-in-law: Dolores (Raymond) Reimer; Norbert Vogel; Frances "Midge" Vogel; Howard Brunner; Dolores (Harold) Schuh; Rita (Charles) McKiel; Michael Wallander; Bernard Wallander; Marie (Joseph) Johanek; Anton Braun; Dorothy Vogel; two infant brothers-in-law: Michael and Daniel.

Elaine was born on January 10, 1935, in Whitelaw, daughter of the late Jacob and Cecelia (Kohlbeck) Vogel. Elaine attended St. Michael's Catholic School in Whitelaw and Valders High School where she graduated with the class of 1953 as a valedictorian.

On September 17, 1955, she married Robert F. Wallander at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Elaine was a homemaker who loved to cook and bake for her family. Her specialties were kolaches, cinnamon rolls, and butter horns. Elaine was also an excellent hostess for the annual family Christmas dinners, Fourth of July, elderberry and pea soup gatherings. She also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and crossword puzzles.

Elaine was a lifelong member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and a member of the Whitelaw Firemen Ladies Auxiliary. She also volunteered as an election poll worker for many years.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2011, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Whitelaw. Rev. Dave Zimmerman will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will take place at Calvary Mausoleum in Manitowoc.
