Robert F. "Bob" Wallander, age 85, Whitelaw, died peacefully Saturday morning, January 19, 2019, at St. Mary's Felician Village. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Wallander; his parents, Ed (Theresa) Wallander; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jacob (Cecelia) Vogel; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bernard (Lois) Wallander; Michael (Pauline) Wallander; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Dolores (Harold) Schuh; Rita (Charles) McKiel; Marie (Joseph) Johanek; six brothers-in-law and five sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Art) Vogel; Anton Braun; Norb Vogel; Howard (Kathleen) Brunner; Marge (Paul) Vollendorf; Ray (Dolores) Reimer; Frances "Midge" Vogel; two infant brothers, Michael and Daniel.

Bob was born on November 21, 1933, in rural Reedsville, son of the late Edward and Theresa (Riederer) Wallander. He attended St. Mary's Catholic Grade School, Valders High School and Manitowoc Vocational School.

Bob served from 1953 until 1955 in the United States Army. On September 17, 1955, Bob married Elaine Vogel at St. Michael's Catholic Church; she preceded him in death on November 6, 2011.

He was co-owner of the Valders Implement with his partners Richard McGuire and Ralph Binversie from 1963 until 1992. Bob then worked at D&D Equipment until his retirement.

He was a lifelong member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and a longtime member of the Whitelaw Volunteer Fire Department, serving as Fire Chief for many years.

Bob was an avid fisherman and enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bob and Elaine were also excellent hosts for the annual family Christmas dinners, 4th of July, crab boils and elderberry pea soup gatherings.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2019, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Whitelaw. Rev. Richard Klingeisen will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will take place at Calvary Mausoleum in Manitowoc.
