Leona Kamke, age 96, formerly of 1220 Arlington Ave., Manitowoc, died early on Wednesday morning, June 4, 2008, at Rivers Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Leona was born on Sept. 16, 1911, in Reedsville, daughter of the late Otto and Ottile (Mack) Ziemer. On June 3, 1928, she married Elmer Kamke in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death on Nov. 8, 1990. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and was a volunteer at North Ridge Medical and Rehabilitation Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Elmer; one daughter-in-law: Carol Kamke; one son-in-law: Ronald Nagel; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law; two sisters and one brother-in-law; and six sisters-in-law and six brothers-in-law.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 6, 2008, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1712 Menasha Ave., Manitowoc. The Rev. Richard Miller will officiate, with entombment to take place at Knollwood Mausoleum, Highway 310, Manitowoc.

Relatives and friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. on Friday until the time of service at 11 a.m. The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Manitowoc is assisting the Kamke family.

A special thanks to Rivers Bend Nursing Home staff for their high quality and compassionate care toward our mother.
