Rueben Kautzer, 75, of 5615 Hwy. 42, Manitowoc, died Wednesday afternoon, July 27, at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Glenn Unke will officiate and entombment will be in Knollwood Mausoleum with military services being accorded by the VFW Post No. 659.
Mr. Kautzer was born Aug. 28, 1907, at Auburndale, Wis., son of the late Edward and Josephine Kotlow Kautzer. He was a Veteran of World War II serving overseas with the United States Army.
He married Mary Ney, June 13, 1950, at Manitowoc. The couple then resided in the Town of Newton.
Mr. Kautzer had been employed for 33 years by the Manitowoc County Highway Department and was a foreman for 22 years prior to his retirement in 1972. He was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church and VFW Post No. 659.
Survivors include his wife, a daughter, Marlene Krueger of Route 2, Reedsville; a brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Helen Kautzer of Cleveland; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Myrtle Neilsen of Oskaloosa, Iowa and Lila and Al Valdora of Riverside, Calif.; four grandsons, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters and two granddaughters.
Friends may call at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday. The casket will be moved to church at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, where the body will lie in state until the time of services. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church.
