Funeral services for Mrs. August Rieck, 86, who died Saturday, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, at the Stoltenberg funeral home in Cleveland, and at 2 p.m. at St. James Evangelical Reform church in Spring Valley, the Rev. Charles E. Schmall officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body may be viewed from 7 p.m. today until the time of the service at the funeral home. The casket will not be opened in church.
Mrs. Rieck, the former Mary Schmidt, was born in the town of Meeme in 1859. She was married to August Rieck in 1879, and they operated a homestead farm until he died in 1902. For 14 years Mrs. Rieck resided in Cleveland, before making her home with her children.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Ben Reineking of the town of Rhine, four sons, Arthur and Herman of Manitowoc, Alfred (sic Albert) of Meeme, and Edmund of Lena, Wis., a brother, Mathew Schmidt of Milwaukee, 19 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
One daughter and one son also preceded her in death.
