Ruth D. Kortas, age 91, of Manitowoc, died Sunday, August 21, 2005 at Wisteria Haus, Two Rivers.

Ruth was born on August 7, 1914 in Two Rivers, daughter of the late Jacob and Marianne (Gagnon) Geimer. On November 15, 1938 she married Louis Kortas at St. Lukes Catholic Church, Two Rivers, who preceded her in death on October 17, 1958. Ruth was a graduate of the Holy Family Hospital School of Nursing and she received a Certificate of Public Health from Marquette University. She worked in the nursing profession in Manitowoc and Two Rivers for many years. Ruth was a member of the American Contrack Bridge League. She was also a member of the Senior Center in Manitowoc and the Christian Women of Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc.

Survivors include one daughter, Kathleen Kortas, Milwaukee; one sister, Bernice Roehl, Sebring, Florida; a special god-daughter Louise Paider, Two Rivers; special friend Margaret Shikowski, Manitowoc; nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was also preceded in death by one son, Donald Kortas; six sisters, Sr. M. Bernice, Sr. M. Candida, Laura Giemer Grimm, Georgiana Geimer Perry, Grace Geimer Smith, Ethelwyn Geimer Hanson; five brothers, Fredrick Geimer, Urban Geimer, William Geimer, Albert Geimer, Martin Geimer.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday August 25, 2005 at St. Francis of Assisi-Waldo site. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Dan Felton, with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Thursday August 25, 2005 at St. Francis of Assisi-Waldo site.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Holy Family Hospice and Home Care.

The Family wishes to express their sincere thank you to the staff of Wisteria Haus and Holy Family Hospice Staff.

The Pfeffer Funeral Home and Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
