Ambrose P. Ramminger, 62, of 2204 Pleasant Ave., New Holstein, died last night, Jan. 29, 1992, at his home. He was born on Feb. 27, 1929, in Chilton, a son of the late Anton and Nerina Gruber Ramminger. He attended Chilton High School for two years and graduated from New Holstein High School in 1947. On Oct. 4, 1950, he married Erma Schaefer, at St. Mary's Church in Marytown. For four years he farmed in the Town of New Holstein and in 1962, he was appointed Street and Weed commissioner for the City of New Holstein, a position he held for 34 years. He retired in 1990. From 1954 to 1956, he was in the United States Army, serving in Greenland and the United States. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, its Holy Name Society, the New Holstein American Legion Post No. 124, a member of the New Holstein Fire Department for 25 and a part-time police officer for 21 years. He is survived by his wife, Erma; three sons, Dennis, of Houston, Texas; Allen, of Janesville; Dale, of Kewaskum; two daughters, Mrs. Brenda (Norbert) Witkowski, of Waupaca; Mrs. Linda (Matt) Gamerdinger, of Green Bay; four grandchildren; four brothers, Erwin (Odelia), of R.R. New Holstein; Leander (Rita), of St. Anna; Alphonse (Eileen) and Anton (Raymond) Schad, of School Hill. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Randy and Edwin. Funeral services will be held on Friday, at 7:30 p.m., at Holy rosary Catholic Church, the Rev. Msgr. Peter Klauck and the Rev. Paul Feider, officiating. Burial will be in the Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum in Manitowoc. Friends may call the Erbe-Evjen Funeral Home in New Holstein from 4 to 7 p.m., on Friday.
