Joseph W. Lemberger Sr., 88, of Rt. 1, Cato, died Monday morning at Maple Crest Sanatorium, Whitelaw.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Reedsville Funeral Home and at 10:20 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Whitelaw. The Rev. Leo J. Schmitt will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Lemberger was born Aug. 30, 1878, in the Town of Cato, son of the late Wolfgang and Theresa Meyer Lemberger. He married the former Mary Fischer Nov. 9, 1903, at Whitelaw. They farmed in the Town of Cato until retirement in 1940, when they made their home with a son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Reiner Lemberger, on Rt. 1, Cato.
His wife preceded him in death in 1945. Mr. Lemberger was a member of Holy Name Society of the church and was a charter member of Catholic Knights, Whitelaw Branch No. 147. He was past president of the Catholic Knights and the Whitelaw cooperative.
Survivors include three sons, Joseph Jr., of Manitowoc, John, of Whitelaw, Mrs. Richard (Mary) Herrmann, of Rt. 1, Cato, and Mrs. Victor (Martha) Opichka, of Rt. 2, Cato; 29 grandchildren, 65 great grandchildren and a great great grandchild. Five sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.
