Mrs. Martha C. (Victor) Opichka, age 84, of 929 S. 31st St., Manitowoc and formerly of 12112 Fisherville Rd., Cato, died early Friday morning, April 5, 2002 at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2002 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kellnersville. Monsignor Robert Gulig will officiate at the Mass of Christian Burial with Sister Marlene Greatens, homilist. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Martha was born Aug. 8, 1917 at Whitelaw, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Fischer Lemberger. She attended St. Michael’s School at Whitelaw. She married Victor F. Opichka, Sept. 15, 1938 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Whitelaw. Martha loved farming, fishing, dancing and especially being with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her loving husband, Victor; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Dorothy Opichka, Manitowoc; a daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette and Alvin Leick, Manitowoc; six grandchildren: Gary (Lynn) Opichka, Diane (John) Dawidowich, Wendy Opichka, Keith (Terry) Opichka, Allan (Brenda) Leick and Sherry Bowen; nine great-grandchildren: Drew, Kate and Mikala Opichka, Tom and Jason Leick, Joshua Bowen, Zackary and Emily Dawidowich and Owen Opichka; one sister, Mary Hermann, Whtelaw; a brother, Reiner Lemberger, Whitelaw; two sisters-in-law, Marcella Lemberger and Molly Opichka, both of Manitowoc. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive. She was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister, three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law.
Relatives and friends may call on Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kellnersville, from 9 a.m. to the time of service at 10:30 a.m. Memorials to St. Joseph’s Parish would be appreciated. The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Kellnersville is assisting the Opichka family with funeral arrangements.
The family would like to extend a very special “Thank You” to Sister Marlene, Dr. Theobald, Dr. DeBruyn and the excellent staffs at Aurora Medical Center and St. Mary Home for their special care and concern shown to Martha and her family during her illness.
