Charles H. Toan was born in Perry, September 4, 1857. He was the son of Austin W. and Elizabeth Compton Toan and grandson of Thomas and Betsey Harvey Toan, early pioneers who came to Perry in 1826. Thomas Toan was a veteran of the war of 1812.
Mr. Toan graduated from the Perry Academy and at the age of 18 took up farming. In 1885 he was united in marriage to Miss Stella Wylie of this place.
Besides his wife he is survived by three sons and two daughters: Lewis A., of Ithaca, Carlos J. of this place; Thomas Leon now with the expeditionary forces in France; Mary Elizabeth and Margaret Toan of this place.
The funeral will be held from the house on Thursday. Burial will be made in Hope cemetery.
