Nurse Veteran Dies in Bunkie

Mrs Lewis PERKINS Sr, one of Louisiana's two veterans of the WWI Army Nurse Corps, died of heart attack in McConnell-Dupree Clinic in Bunkie, Sunday pm.

The former Janet MECHLING, she spent 17 months in France during WWI in the Army Nurse Corps, while there met Lewis PERKINS and married him in 1919.

Survivors include: sons Lewis Jr of New Roads, David of Hamburg, John of Baton Rougue(sic), M Sgt Frank w/Army in Tokyo, M Sgt Samuel w/Air Force in Philippines, dtr Ms Janet PERKINS, Bunkie, sis Mrs George (Mary Hazel) ROBERTS, Wilkinsburg PA, 07 gr'chr.
