He was born September 6, 1922, at Kiel, son of the late Rudolph and Elsie Kautzer Wendling Dedering. He attended Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic School and was a 1941 graduate of Kiel High School. He was a United States Army veteran serving in WWII in Europe and was involved in the Battle of the Bulge.
On April 3, 1943, he married Elaine Rabe at Waycross, Georgia. He was a cofounder of The Union Brass and Aluminum Foundry in Collins, retiring in 1985.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Reedsville; the Knights of Columbus and Elizabeth Ann Seton Council. He was an avid sportsman belonging to the Rockea Hunting Club of Collins and the Crooked Lake Sportsman's Club. He was a retired member of the Collins Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Collins Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine; two sons, Charles (Barbara) Wendling of Collins; James (Patsy) Wendling of Brillion; four daughters, Terry (Richard) Pederson of Valders; Elaine (Jeff) Christel of Valders; Mary (Daniel) Benter of Collins; Joan (Lesley) Zutz of rural Chilton; 18 grandchildren; nine sisters, Marie (Arno) Kienbaum of Kiel; Jeanette Graf of Kiel; Sylvia (Alfred) Anhalt of Sun City, AZ; Georgiana (Leroy) Breit of Kiel; Barbara (John) Schwind of Glenbeulah; Delores (Tony) Kauth of Kiel; Diane (Tom) Twohig of Fond du Lac; Nancy (Bob) Wier of El Paso, TX; Elsie (Allan) Arnold of Kiel; two brothers, Rudolph (Barbara) Wendling of Kiel; Jerome (Janet) Wendling of Kiel; and a step-brother, Bob (Charlotte) Dedering of Kiel.
He was preceded in death by his step-father, Elmer Dedering (#53205285), and a step-sister, Lois Dedering.
The funeral was held on Thursday, Jan. 18, at St Mary's Catholic Church in Reedsville.
