Barb went in for a total hip replacement, after two years of chronic pain. The surgery was successful. Barb even got to try out her new hip and loved it, but soon after, other previous health issues came to the fore and she lost the fight.
Barb came from a family of thirteen, born to Elsie and Rudolf Wendling of Kiel. After her father's death, she finished the third grade, then went to work at the Cleveland Glove Factory, then to be a live-in nanny in Plymouth for the Depee's.
Barb met the love of her life -most days- John Schwind, at the Greenbush picnic, wearing a smashing polka-dotted halter dress. Her love of clothing would leave many with fond memories.
Barb married John Schwind on June 11, 1955. Together they had four children, Debra Goff, Glenbeulah, Jeffrey Schwind, Plymouth, Brian Schwind, Glenbeulah and Danny Schwind, St. Cloud.
Barb lived on the farm until her husband, John, went to Rocky Knoll. John preceded her in death on June 16, 2015. Before that, she moved back to Kiel to rent a home and spend time with her remaining siblings. After a time, she moved into a smaller apartment in Plymouth, Qui Qui Oc Manor. She loved it there!
Thanks to all her friends. "She was one classy lady."
Out of Barb's family, alive and well, are Rudy Wendling, Kiel, Elsie Arnold, Kiel, Diane Twohig, Fond du Lac and Nancy Weir, El Paso, Texas.
In accordance with Barb's wishes, cremation has taken place and private family services will be held. Please visit www.meiselwitzfh.com to send online condolences.
