Note: Reported for the Virginia On the 16th inst. at the residence of her son-in-law, Mr. Fielden Whitmore, near West View, Mrs. Catharine Rhodes, nee Stover, breathered her last peacefully, aged 70 years. Her health was always excellent until within the past few years, when it became apparent that her life's journey, so long extended, was in its decline. On last Sunday evening the funeral took place from the M. E. Church at this place, of which the deceased was a devoted member for many years. The services, which were conducted by Rev. Mr. Brown, of Churchville, were of a very impressive character. The choir of the Church rendered with sweet ffect, the appropriate hymns, "I would not live always" and "Shrinking from the cold hand of death". After the services the remains, encased in a beautiful casket, were viewed by a large number of relatives and friends of the deceased, during which that beautiful and appropriate hymn, "In teh Sweet By and By", was sung. After a last fond look at the familiar features, the remains were laid to rest besides those of her beloved daughter Kate and sister, Mrs. Sam'l Adams.
