Atwell D Black is the son of Richard Springs Black and Harriett Arabelle Dunlavy.
He first married Geogiana Elliott in 1903 at Ragan Nebraska, who died in 1908. Their children were; Allen, Kenneth, and George(died at birth).
He next married Lucy Blanchard on Dec 5, 1911, in Oneonta. Their children were; Francis, Georgiabelle, Maurice, Russell, Helene, and Lucy.
Atwell, was a air brake inspector for the D & H Railroad, lived in Oneonta for 36 years, formerly residing in Ragan, Neb.
He was a member of the Elm Park Methodist Church, a member of its board of stewards for many years and the International Brotherhood of Machinists.
