Norman "POPPIE" Willis

A loving husband, father and friend, he went to be with the Lord at 3:15 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 64, a native of Oakdale and resident of Baton Rouge. Visiting was at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Visiting at Greenoaks Funeral Chapel from 8 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m. Thursday, conducted by the Rev. Ted Long. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Martha Taylor Willis of Baton Rouge; three sons, Stephen Rogers and wife Melanie of Denham Springs, Joseph Andrew "Jay" Willis and wife Michelle of Atlanta, and Louis Walker Willis and wife Sheryl of Denham Springs; seven grandchildren, Bradley, Brandon and Brian Willis , David and Dalton Willis , and Gabriel and Ashley Rogers; two sisters, Apolonia Ashmoore and Bessie Mae Bohannon, both of Oakdale; and two brothers, Huey Willis and Walter Willis Jr., both of Oakdale. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Willis Sr. and Bessie Willis ; a son David Brett Rogers; three brothers, Jack, Darrel and John Henry Willis ; and two sisters, Jimmie Ardoin and Willie Mae Willis . He was a member of Maranatha Church of God. Memorial donations may be made to Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge, 550 Lobdell Ave., Baton Rouge, LA 70806.
