George N. Orth, 70, of 1209 South 16th street, a retired painter and decorator, died this morning at Holy Family hospital following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Pfeffer funeral home and at 9 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic church, the Rev. Henry Letz officiating.
Burial will be in Calvary cemetery.
Mr. Orth was born in 1878 in Gibson, and later made his home in Manitowoc where he was a painter and decorator. He married Agnes Clark in 1902. She died eight months ago.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Jerome Brunner of route 5, Manitowoc and Mrs. Fred Maresh of Manitowoc; four sons, Alvin, Floyd, Donald and Raymond of Manitowoc; four brothers, Nick, Matt and Edward of Manitowoc and John of Neenah; four sisters, Mrs. John Mosuch of Manitowoc, Mrs. Thomas Walburn of Menasha, Mrs. C. A. Netzhammer of Milwaukee and Mrs. Francis Ginzl of Shawano.
The body may be viewed at the Pfeffer funeral home after noon on Friday until the time of services. Mr. Orth was a member of the Spanish American War veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Holy Name society and the Last Man's club. The rosary will be recited at 8:15 p.m. Friday.
The VFW will conduct military rites at the grave.
