Anna Nemnich, formerly of Clay county, died Wednesday, January 12th, at her home in Liberal, Kan. Mr. and Mrs. Nemnich at one time lived in the Shiloh neighborhood and were members of the Shiloh church. Later, they came to Clay Center to make their home. and several years ago went to Liberal. They have many friends in this county who are sorry to hear of Mrs. Nemnich's death. The Liberal paper contained the following account of her life: "Anna Herkelchweseler was born in Marion county, Ohio, February 19, 1837. She grew to womanhood in that state, and married Henry Nemnich on September 27, 1866. Five children were born. One died in infancy. Three sons, John, Will, and Henry, with a daughter, Mrs. Rosa Bloom survive and were present at the funeral. There are 23 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was the last survivor of her family. She was left an orphan at 12 years of age. Mrs. Nemnich became a member of the German church in infancy and was a member of this church at her death. She has been much afflicted during the last few years of her life. She was a faithful mother and sincere Christian. Another servant of God has fought the battle well and gone home to be with God. She was one of that great army of Christian mothers who are the real teachers and leaders of any age. Mr. Nemnich and the sons and daughter and sorrowing relatives have the sincere sympathy of many friends in this hour of parting." - Source: The Times (Clay Center, Kansas), Thurs., Jan 20, 1921
