JOSEPH L. BRUNNER

Joseph L. Brunner, 81, of Rt. 4, Manitowoc, and a former member of the Manitowoc County Board, died early Tuesday morning at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, where he had been confined for more than two weeks.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Alverno, with the Rev. D. F. Hurley officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
He was born March 3, 1881, in the Town of Manitowoc Rapids, son of the late Frank and Theresa Zipperer Brunner. He married Margaret Boyle July 1, 1903, in Price County and the couple made its home on a farm in Manitowoc Rapids.
The couple celebrated its Golden Wedding anniversary in 1953. His wife preceded him in death Dec. 23, 1956.
Mr. Brunner was a farmer and was the last member of a family active in farm and township governmental circles. He was a past president of Manitowoc County Farm Loan Assn., past vice president of the production Credit Assn., a member of the Product Marketing Assn., served for 15 years as cleark of the District 1,
Manitowoc Rapids, School Board, was chairman of the Town Board at Manitowoc Rapids for eight years, was a member of the County Board, secretary of the Silver Creek Telephone Co. for three years, past president of the Dairy Herd
Improvement Assn., a former trustee of the Manitowoc County Hospital, a member of the Mobilization Committee and a past president and member of the St. Joseph Holy Name Society.
Surviving are three sons, Louis J. of Branch, David of Rt. 1, Manitowoc, and William of Rt. 4, Manitowoc; four daughters, Mrs. Walter Kaufmann and Mrs. Orville Stephanie of Manitowoc, Mrs. Arland Matthais (sic) of Rt. 4, Manitowoc, and Mrs. Edmund Welch of Grimm; 38 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. A son also preceded him in death.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home where the Rosary will be recited at 8:30 p.m.
