Nina S. Brunner, age 88, died on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, at St. Mary's Home,
Manitowoc surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on March 19, 1920, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Walter and
Mary (Turtle) Smith. Nina was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Manitowoc,
class of 1937, Manitowoc Teachers College and also graduated from Lakeshore
Technical College with a license in practical nursing. She was employed at the
Manitowoc County Health Care Center for 18 years. On Dec. 28, 1940, she married
William J. Brunner at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her
in death on Jan. 5, 1971.

She was preceded in death by a grandson: Michael Brunner; two brothers: Thomas
and Ulrich Braasch; and five sisters: Frances Braasch; Cynthia Nelson; Elizabeth
Bedwell; Ruth Bentley; and Esther Donovan.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008, at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas
the Apostle Catholic Community, the corner of Brunner Road and Highway 42.
Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Tom Long with burial
at St. Joseph Cemetery, Alverno.
The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic
Community, the corner of Brunner Road and Highway 42, from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday,
Sept. 8, 2008. A prayer service will be held at 7: 30 p.m., led by Brenda Korinek.
Friends may also call on Tuesday morning at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the
time of the service at 11 a.m.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the
family with funeral arrangements.
The family wishes to thank the staff of St. Mary's Home and Holy Family Memorial
Medical Center for their care given to Nina.
