Dead; End Came Here
Early This Afternoon
Albert S. Anderson, one of the town's best known citizens, died this afternoon at his home on East North street. The end came at 2:30 o'clock. Mr. Anderson was sixty-five years of age, and had spent his life in Mayfield. He was a son of Irvin Anderson, who was the first white child to be born in Mayfield.
He is survived by a wife, who before marriage was Miss Mattie Crider, and one son, Jesse G. Anderson, well known newspaper man. He also leaves one brother, Lawrence B. Anderson, now of Frankfort, and four sisters, Mrs. Annie Albritton, of Seattle, Wash.; Mrs Amelia Robertson, of Nashville; Mrs. Gus Coulter, of Biloxi, Miss., and Mrs. J. K. Jamison, of Sherman, Tex.
Mr. Anderson served his city faithfully as a councilman, and later, in 1909, he was named Mayor, and served two years. Up to the age of about twenty five years he was in the government service, after which he entered the insurance business here and had since followed that profession. At the time of his death he was associated with the Shaw & Robertson insurance agency, and was on duty until about two seeks ago.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian church, and while the hour of the funeral services has not been set, it will be at the Presbyterian church, and will take place Sunday.
