William was born on April 23, 1919 in St. Nazianz, a son of the late William and Gertrude (Stiefvater) Pfeifer. He attended Kiel High School.
On Feb. 10, 1945 he married Ruth Kelnofer and she preceded him in death on March 15, 2003.
He was a member of the Local 400 union for steamfitters and welders. He was a former member of Immaculate Conception and Holy Name of Jesus parishes.
William is survived by two sons, William A. (Linda) Pfeifer and Larry J. Pfeifer, both of Fullerton, Calif.; two daughters, Penny (Tim) Tarkowski of Sheboygan and Victoria (Charles) James of Gibsonia, Pa.; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Along with other relatives and friends, he is further survived by two sisters, Teckla Bertsche of Manitowoc and Rose Evensen of North Logan, Utah. He was preceded in death by a son, Patrick, and four brothers and sisters.
