Daughter of the late Stephen and Katherine Stiefvater, she was born in St. Nazianz Oct. 28, 1884. On Jan. 12, 1904, she was married to William Pfeifer in St. Gregory's Catholic Church, St. Nazianz. The couple farmed near St. Nazianz until retiring, when they moved to Manitowoc. Mr. Pfeifer died Dec. 16, 1965. Mrs. Pfeifer was a member of St. Gregory's Church, St. Nazianz, and of its Christian Mothers Society.
Survivors include three sons, Arthur and William, both of Sheboygan and George of Cleveland; four daughters, Mrs. Theckla Bertsche, Manitowoc, Mrs. Gertrude Zimmer, Plymouth, Mrs. Robert (Irene) Newman, Vallejo, Calif., and Mrs. Norman (Rose) Evensen, Waukegan, Ill.; 26 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.
Other survivors are two brothers, Frank Stiefvater, St. Nazianz, and Severin Stiefvater, Sheboygan, and a sister, Miss Rose Stiefvater, Oshkosh.
A grandchild, a sister and a brother preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 9:45 a.m. at the Christiansen Funeral Home, St. Nazianz, and at 10 a.m. at St. Gregory's Church, St. Nazianz. The Rev. Gregory Putzer, pastor, will offer the requiem Mass. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
