Janet H. (Haviland) Elton, 91, widow of Clarence E. Dibble and George H. Elton, Jr., died on Friday (July 13, 2012) at the Sheriden Woods Health Care. Janet was born in Bristol on February 14, 1921 and was a daughter of the late Calvin and Pearl (Kingsbury) Haviland. Janet was a devoted member of the Bristol Baptist Church for over 70 years, a member of the Bristol Historical Society, the Bristol Genealogical Society, and the Botsford Family Historical Society of Milford, CT. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Ruth and John Boss of Bristol, and Janice and Jim Jacobs of Camden, DE; a step daughter and her husband, Karen and Emery Austin of Bristol; three grandchildren, Harlan Boss, Kathryn Post, and Richard Jacobs; six great grandchildren, several step grandchildren, and their children; and her special friend, Hazel Finnemore. She was predeceased by her brothers, Irving, Charles, and Raymond Haviland and a grandson, Lawrence Boss, all of Bristol.
A memorial service will take place on July 28, 2012 (Saturday) at 2 p.m. at Bristol Baptist Church, 43 School St., Bristol. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in West Cemetery, Bristol. There are no calling hours. The family would like to thank the staff at Sheriden Woods for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the , 2080 Silas Deane Highway, 2nd Floor, Rocky Hill, CT 06067, or to the Bristol Baptist Church Book of Remembrance Fund, 43 School St., Bristol, CT 06010.
