ROMNEY, W.Va. – Golda "Goldie" Garfield Beatty, 80, of 396 West Rosemary Lane, Romney, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 1993 at the Devlin Manor Nursing Home, Cumberland.
Born on April 4, 1913 in Hampshire County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Henry G and Lula A. (Shanholtzer) Beatty.
Ms. Beatty worked as a radio operator for the West Virginia Department of Highways. She was also an active member of the Republican Party.
Surviving are two brothers, Garland Glenn Beatty, Romney; Bernard V. Beatty, Fort Ashby, W.Va.; two sisters, Gladys J. Shanholtz, Romney; Alice. I. Beatty, Cresaptown; one nephew, George B. Shanholtz Jr., Woodbridge, Va.; two nieces, Susan G. Knisley, Cumberland; Constance V. Shanholtz, Romney; one great-nephew, Richard Shanholtz, Woodbridge; four great-nieces, Susan M. Knisley, Cumberland; Allison D. Knisley, Cumberland; Andrea Shanholtz, Woodbridge and Kary Shanholtz, Woodbridge.
Friends will be received at the Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Mr. Eugene Maphis officiating. Burial will be Ebenezer Cemetery, Romney.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
