John Gill
John Gill, 82 years of age, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. T.M. McMillin, east of the Twin Bridges, in Stillwater, Ok., Saturday morning, December 23, 1922, after an illness of about a month, following a paralytic stroke. Funeral services, conducted by Virtes Williams, were held at the McMillin home Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Burial was in Fair Lawn cemetery.
For seventeen years, until about two years ago, Mr. Gill served as crossing flagman for the Santa Fe railway in Stillwater. He came to Stillwater twenty-four years ago from Winfield, Kan. He was born aboard a ship on the Atlantic ocean when his parents were coming to America from Ireland. His father and mother both died on the trip and were buried at sea. He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. McMillin, and two sons, James Gill, of Red Fork, and Sam Gill, of Ripley. Mrs. Fred Stallard is a step-daughter.
