James Scott Palfreeman was born December 24, 1857 and died June 29, 1939. He married Rosa Lappin April 1873. They had 12 children and three preceded him in death as well as his wife, Rosa. On August 26, 1914 he married Hattie Webster.

According to his obituary they had 12 children, only 8 were named: Robert Archibald, James Lacy, Frederick Ernest, William Russell, Thomas Ira, Harriet May Stoody, Lillan Victoria Mayo, and Aria Bell Hubbard, four others died before them and were not mentioned by name: Samuel Hancock, Herman Gregg and John Carmen, and Letha Olena Overby.]
