Little Maud, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. Dean, of Lincoln township, died Monday, May 1st, 1882 of diphtheria, aged 8 years, Maud was a bright and pleasant little girl and will be greatly missed by the family and many friends who knew and loved her.

God has called away our darling
From a world of sin and woe,
To the realms of the blessed,
Where no sorrows she can know.

Death did claim her as a victim
And no earthly power could save
Yet with hearts almost breaking
We must follow to the grave.

Yet we miss dear little Maudie
Who from earth has passed away,
No more with us shall she mingle
Until the great and final day.

Mourn not for her dear parents
Though your loss is hard to bear,
Maud is only gone before you
And you your cross must bear.

Weep not sorrow stricken sisters
For the time will quickly come
When your spirit will be welcomed
By her in our heavenly home.

Do not mourn for her dear brothers
Though dark may be your home,
She is now among the angels
Where no sorrows ever come.

Weave a garland o'er her now
Place it on her pale pure brow
Rosebud blossoms bright and fair
Time within her sunny hair.

James, Ia., May 7, 1882, Anna

Daughter of Samuel Dean and Jane Gragg both buried in this same cemetery.
