A memorial service celebrating the life of Beverly Marie Bowler-Sword will be held at Stewart Family Funeral Home Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Pam Leach officiating. A private interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Beverly Marie Bowler-Sword, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 21, 2013.

Beverly was born in Abilene on Nov. 23, 1929, to Walter John Bowler and Norma Lee Lones-Bowler. She moved to Tyler at the age of 6. She attended Tyler High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Winnon Earl Sword, on June 3, 1949. She was a graduate of Christian College in Columbia, Mo. Beverly was instrumental in helping to build several successful businesses with her husband, the first being W.E. Sword Co., as well as various real-estate ventures. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Tyler. She enjoyed reading, traveling, being with her family, gardening and just relaxing at her home on Lake Palestine.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Walter John Bowler, Norma Lee Bowler; brother, Selman Bowler; and sisters-in-law, Lois Ellis and Katherine Sword.

She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Winnon Earl Sword; sister, Barbara Bowler-Thrash and husband Jim, of Rockwall; brother, Troyce B. Sword, of Tyler; brother-in-law, Leslie Ellis, of Abilene; her son, Stephen Sword and wife Cheryl, of Flint; son, Michael Sword and wife Debra, of Tyler; daughter, Jacquelyn Sword, of Allen; daughter, Sherri Sword-Edwards and husband Tracy, of Tyler; grandchildren, Shannon Sword-Denson and husband Cory, of Flint, Audra Sword Gillespie and husband Charlie, of La Mesa, Calif., Ryan Sword and wife Jordan, of Tyler, Aaron Sword and wife Nicole, of Austin, Eli and Katie Edwards, of Tyler, Maegen Edwards, of New Orleans, La.; and great-grandchildren, Connor and Pierce Denson, John Levi Sword and Paisley Lynn Gillespie. She was loved by her extended family, nieces and nephews and dear friends. "Mimi" was devoted to her family, who meant the world to her, as she demonstrated her love for them each and every day of her life.

Beverly was blessed by God with a peaceful departure into His kingdom showing the strength and dignity she exhibited her entire life. She was a generous, kind-hearted soul with a sweet spirit. She touched many hearts and left a legacy of love through her devoted family. Beverly Marie will truly be missed by many. Praise be to God for the precious gift of her life!

Attending pallbearers will be Ryan Sword, Aaron Sword, Eli Edwards, Cory Denson, Jordan Ellis and Larry Ellis.

Visitation will be at Stewart Family Funeral Home, Tuesday, April 23, 2013, from 5 to 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: First Presbyterian Church of Tyler, 230 W. Rusk St., Tyler, 75701; or The Hospice of East Texas Foundation, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, 75701.
