William Meek, a son of Matthew Meek, and Maria Ewart from County Antrim, Ireland, was born in Roxborough Township, Stormont County, Upper Canada. William farmed with his father Matthew and brothers Thomas and John Meek on the West three fourths of Lot No. 29 in the First Concession of the Township of Roxborough in the County of Stormont and Province of Ontario containing 150 acres more or less, as described in William's Last Will and Testament which was registered on 6 Dec. 1878.

William's first wife was Hannah Elizabeth Hough, a daughter of John Hough, the founder of the village of Avonmore (previously Hough's Mills), and Mary Doran. Their daughter Mary Maria Meek (their only living child), married Charles Wesley Warner.

William remarried on 26 Sept. 1859 to Mary Margaret Grant, daughter of George Grant and Margaret Shaver. Mary Margaret Grant was a direct descendent of Mary Stuart Grant (1759-1843), the daughter of Dr. James Stuart (from Scotland) (1711-1804) U.E.Loyalist. Three daughters were born to William and Margaret: Margaret Jane Meek, Sarah Ann Meek, and Agnes Meek.

William Meek was buried in the Willis Cemetery, North Lunenburg, Osnabruck Township, Stormont County, Ontario, beside his parents Matthew and Maria.
