Jewell T. Jorgenson, 90, a French teacher at Helena High from 1955 to 1968, died on April 26 at Emerson Hospital in Concord, Mass. She had lived at Carlton Willard Homes, a retirement community in Bedford, Mass., for three years. Before moving to Bedford, she had resided in Arlington, Mass.

After her retirement from Helena High, Mrs. Jorgenson taught French at Sheldon Jackson College in Sitka, Alaska, as a Presbyterian missionary and at the Christian High School in Lexington, Mass.

She received a bachelor's degree from Carroll College in Helena in 1955 and a master's degree in French from the University of Wisconsin at Madison in 1962. She also studied French at the Universities of Dijon and Grenoble in France, and at McGill University in Montreal.

She married Emmett B. Jorgenson in St. Paul, Minn., in 1929.

He preceded her in death in 1956.

Survivors include one son, Dale W. Jorgenson of Cambridge, Mass.; and two grandchildren, Eric and Kari Jorgenson, both of Cambridge.

A funeral service was held at the First Baptist Church in Arlington on April 30. Burial was in Forestvale Cemetery on May 2.

Retz Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements.
