US Congressman, Author. He was born in Passaic, New Jersey, but moved to New York with his parents in 1845. He was elected to represent New York in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1873 to 1875. Aftr his service in Congress he practiced law and authored several works including "The Assassination of Abraham Lincoln" and "The Impeachment and Trial of Andrew Johnson". He died in Kingston, New York
