He was born in the Naomi community October 12, 1912, the son of the late Ransom Merrick and Florence Turpin Merrick Ard. He was a retired employee of Bobcock and Wilcox Company, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and a member of Duke Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include two brothers, Carl Merrick, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Glenn Ard, Somerset; one sister, Bonnie Merrick Ard, Nancy; and four nieces.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Telfair Merrick.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. at the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with the Revs. Roy Alexander and Jimmy Your officiating.
Burial will be in the Tarter Cemetery.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. today at Pulaski Funeral home.
