Roscoe was the owner/operator of Bentler & Son Amusement Co. in Springfield, Illinois. The business involved the installation, servicing and repair of jukeboxes, pinball machines, shuffleboards and cigarette machines in numerous establishments. Roscoe and Bessie Jane had just one child, son Charles Frederick "Fritz" Bentler, who worked the business with his father before owning the company himself.
