Born June 8, 1894 at Shady Spring, the retired miner and life-long resident of Shady Spring was a son of the late Staunton and Louise Lilly Griffith.
Survivors include his widow, Iva Trail Griffith; a son, Curtis of Shady Spring; eight daughters, Mrs. Lorraine Savage of Sabastopol, Calif., Mrs. Erma (Luther) Wesley of Cordova, N. C.; Mrs. Theda (Homer) Shirkey of Dearborn Heights, Mich., Mrs. Jeanette (W.M.) Maticks of Crab Orchard, Mrs Wilma (William) Martin of Dawson Spring, Ky., Mrs Aneta Rufus of Beaver, and Mrs. Iva (B.H.) Adkinson and Mrs Ina (Douglas) Bryge, both of Gerogetown, S.C.
Three brothers, Monnie and Clyde Griffith, both of Shady Spring, and Robert Griffith of Flat Top; four sisters, Mrs. Thelma Davis of Coal City, Mrs. Betty Williams of Beckley, Mrs Susie McGrady of Florida and Mrs Ethel Worley of Streeter; 34 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Saturday in the Shady Spring Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Pizzino in charge. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
The body will be taken from the Calfee Funeral Home, where friend may call from 3 to 9 pm today, to the church one hour prior to services.
Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
